                                                 Vegetable Chop

Vegetable Chop Recipe is a popular Kolkata Street food and also across West Bengal. These Crunchy chops are made with beetroot, carrots and peanuts and breadcrumbs which gives a nice crunch. Make these for an evenings snack and enjoy!!

Preparation Time: 20 mins

Cooking Time: 5 to 7 mins

Serves: 2 to 3 Person

INGREDIENTS:

Potato - 1 Medium size

Beetroots - 2 Small or Medium size

Onion - 1 Medium size

Carrot - 10 gms finely chopped

2 tsp oil

½ tsp ginger garlic paste

1 chilli, finely chopped

½ tsp sugar

¼ tsp salt

3 tbsp peanuts, roasted and crushed

2 tbsp coriander, finely chopped

Oil for deep frying

FOR COATING:

3 tbsp maida / plain flour

3 tbsp corn flour

¼ tsp salt

½ cup water

1 cup breadcrumbs

METHOD:

First steam the vegetables and mash smooth.

In a large kadai heat 2 tsp oil and saute ½ tsp ginger paste and 1 chilli.

Add mashed vegetables and saute for 5 minutes.

Cook until the mixture loses its moisture and separates pan.

Add garam masala and salt.

Mix well until spices are cooked well.

Add 3 tbsp roasted & crushed peanuts, 2 tbsp coriander.

Keep aside the mixture and let it to cool.

Mix well, prepare oval shape vegetable mixture.

Dip in maida paste coating all over, then roll in breadcrumbs.

Deep fry in hot oil for 7-8 minutes or till the coating is golden brown.

Serve Veg chop with Tomato sauce or Chutney.
