Kohlrabi also termed as the German Turnip. Popular vegetable in India name Khol Khol. Taste and texture of kohlrabi are similar to those of a broccoli stem or cabbage heart, but milder and sweeter, with a higher ratio of flesh to skin. The young stem in particular can be as crisp and juicy. I have prepared a Kholrabi curry with potatoes and spices which is easy to prepare with pressure cooker.
Preparation Time: 20 mins
Cooking Time: 25-30 mins
Serves: 2 to 3 Person
INGREDIENTS:
200 gms Khol Khol Vegetable
100 gms Potatoes
75 gms Onion Chopped
2 medium size tomatoes
2 tsp oil
1/2 tsp garam masala
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
2 green chillies, finely chopped
2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp cumin powder
2 tsp coriander powder
Coriander leaves, finely chopped
Salt to taste
METHOD:
Wash the vegetables and cut khol khol and potatoes into medium cube size pieces.
Place your pressure cooker on flame and add 2 tsp oil into it.
Once the oil is heated, add chopped onions and stir for few minutes till onions turn transparent in colour.
Add green chillies and chopped tomatoes and stir for few minutes.
Now put ginger garlic paste and stir well for few more minutes.
If your cooker bottom is sticking put some water, reduce the flame and stir well till ginger garlic paste's raw smell is gone.
Add coriander, turmeric, red chilli and cumin powder and stir for few minutes.
Put Khol Khol and Potatoes and stir for few minutes and add 4 cups of water.
Add salt as per taste or required.
Put garam masala into it and put the lid of pressure cooker.
Turn your flame to medium heat and wait for 8-10 whistles.
Remove the lid and check if vegetables are cooked properly. (If not then give another 1 or 2 whistle).
Transfer the curry to a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice or rotis/parathas.
